This pure puzzle of a relationship...

Yes, you have got a girl that owns your heart
and I've got the guy of my life...
But the truth is my friend, we share something special that some tend-
to think something else, they all misunderstand...

We both know where our hearts lie,
and so do those who own them...
But the world is spiteful and is bent
     on insisting, damn it, offense...

There is something so pure, so magical and fun...
There's the mutual respect that you always speak about...
and yes, a bit of a harmless chemistry...
We are just so comfortable this way...
A little mischief and a twinkling wink...
But no betrayal of our better halves
Nothing replaces them in our lives...

Yes, we liked each other that way once...
Yes, there was a connection that I guess still runs...
But things got different and we have come past that stage...
and so now we can safely flirt and shrug it all away with laughter...

We don't care if the world misunderstands,
It's all about  our respective partner's stance...
Hope they stay the way they are, clear and cool...
and let us be what we are, friends, and some fun...

There is nothing wrong, no crossing the line,
Just play of words and laughing it all off...
There is very little time, with each other, we spend...
and it is such a pain to constantly fend...

So here's wishing to the stars
    and hoping in our hearts,
Let us be in this pure puzzle of a relationship
No need to explain, not good when described - which
we both know, is beautiful...
and want the important two in our lives to know... to trust...

A puzzle indeed.. One thats never understood by the solver unless he/she is part of a similar puzzle.. :)

Relationships are in fact simple and uncomplicated. We complicate it by binging into picture 'what will people think', 'is this right', 'are we just friends', 'is this really what he/she meant', etc.
Human emotions are impossible to be completely understood, thats the reason we have this beautiful umbrella of 'relationships' to help us savor the sweet feelings to emotions without troubling our minds too much.
Nice poem!

@ PJ: true. the problem is even when the two involved come to terms with what they share the ones around put up questions to them that if the two are not too good at tackling, confuses them. In fact, it becomes more beautiful when you accept it "for what it is", "whatever it is", no defining... :)

But I think complicating it - the last u've mentioned two before the etc I mean :) - also adds some spice to it at times... ;)

You like complicating it? Men are people driven by logic and reason ... words like 'sort of', 'kind of' ... we're not good at handling these ;)
Good luck to the poor fellow :P

There has been a whole lot of a discussion here :

siva :
I jus couldn't get the drift of what he was saying .. (I wonder if he himself did ...)

PJ :
first he says we make tings complicated by bringing into the picture all the cliche'd phrases.. and then he says men are incapable of handling such complications and then brought in the funda of 'logic' (which btw is incapable of handling simple questions) to back it.. ...( i am confused )

leaving all this aside,
it is a nice poem, could not have been more beautiful and simple... kudos!!

@Anon:
Let me give an example: The poem here is 'simple and beautiful' (take this as a 'relationship'). Just like a relationship, this poem is make up of a million emotions, some written and spoken out some understood only by the the person who wrote it and the people who it talks about. While it is very easy for any one to savor the beauty of this poem, enjoy its warmth and feel its depth, if one tries to look deeper into the feelings and tries to separate them, classify them or nominate a person for those feelings, the things will get complicated!
As for men, they are like the 'Anonymous' comments: They would like to distance themselves from the emotions as much as possible (just relying on the flow of logic of comments and discussions) while at the same time enjoying the beautiful relationship they are in.
